Health Science Librarian
Duties and Responsibilities:
A Health Science Librarian sorts
through and organizes information on health. A Health Science Librarian will
also sort through the vast sources of information on health to aid a patient
seeking for info. Sources of information include books, pamphlets, journals,
tapes, multimedia presentations, and the internet.
Salary:
$20,000 - $30,000
(Library Technicians)
$35,000 - $55,000 (Librarians)
Education: A four-year bachelor's degree is required,
including courses such as science and computer science. A master’s degree in
library science is also required. Courses include scientific literature,
biomedical communication, bibliographic resource use, library organization and
management, and standard cataloging systems. While health science librarians
are not required to be certified, the Medical Library Association does offer
certification examinations which would help a librarian advance to a higher
position.
Answer: I think I would not like to be a health
science librarian because it seems very difficult not that rewarding. I wouldn’t
want to be a librarian in the first place. I love books and reading them but to
be in charge of a million books and to have to know where each one would be doesn’t
seem pleasant.
