Industrial Hygienist
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties of industrial
hygiene are dedicated to the anticipation, recognition, evaluation,
communication, and control of the environmental stressors of a work place.
These stressors are divided into categories of biological, chemical, physical,
ergonomic and psychosocial.
Salary: $40,000 - $60,000
Educational Requirements: A career in
industrial hygiene requires a minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in occupational
health and safety, environmental health engineering, or the physical
sciences. Many jobs require certification and/or a Master's Degree in
these, or related, fields. Certification requires successful completion
of the American Board of Industrial Hygiene examination.
Reflection: I would not like
to be an Industrial Hygienist because it sounds like a dangerous job, and I would
not like to be in those positions.
