This quote means that it is better
to play fair and with honor than to actually win or lose. As long as you are honorable
and fair then it does not matter if you win or lose, it just matters that you
played fair. Even if you do win but you were unfair and not honorable then the
win doesn't even matter, it’s worthless. If you lost but you played fair and
with honor then it is a lost worth winning because you stayed true and did not
do wrong.
