Plastic Surgeon
Duties and Responsibilities: Physicians and surgeons diagnose and treat injuries
or illnesses. Physicians examine patients; take medical histories; prescribe
medications; and order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests. They often
counsel patients on diet, hygiene, and preventive healthcare. Surgeons operate
on patients to treat injuries, such as broken bones; diseases, such as
cancerous tumors; and deformities, such as cleft palates. Among these
operations they go under three categories, cosmetic, reconstructive, and minor
surgery.
Salary: $343,848
Education: The usual education and training requirements for
plastic surgeons is at least 4 years of undergraduate school, 4 years of
medical school, and then 3-8 years of internship.
Reflection: I would most definitely not become a plastic surgeon
for various reasons. A main reason being that I do not generally accept of cosmetic
surgery used for vain purposes, but of course I respect it.
