Western Medicine
Doctor
Duties and Responsibilities: Western medicine focuses primarily on preventative
medicine and ensures that you don’t get sick in the first place. Western medicine
also uses medical drugs to help either cure or alleviate pain/symptoms of
ailments. Western medicine also relies on treatments called immunizations to prevent
diseases by injecting a weak piece of the subject disease so that our body can
naturally find cures to this disease so that if we ever get them again our bodies
will now exactly what to do.
Salary: annual wage is equal to or greater than $187,200 per
year.
Education: Education
varies but you have to at least have a bachelor’s degree, though it is better
to have more advanced degrees. Although no specific major is required, all
students must complete undergraduate work in biology, chemistry, physics,
mathematics, and English. Students also take courses in the humanities and
social sciences. Some students volunteer at local hospitals or clinics to gain
experience in a healthcare setting.
Reflection: I would not like to become a doctor because I think I wouldn't have the patience or the ability to help cure people of their ailments
every day. Also it takes a really long time to become one.
