“Attitude is the mind’s paintbrush. It can color in any situation.”
ANON

What this quote is saying is that attitude will affect any situation you are in. I agree with this quote in part. In some way, attitude does change a situation but more importantly than attitude is behavior. Attitude will change your experience towards a situation, but behavior will change everybody else’s experience. As long as you keep a certain behavior, everybody’s experience will remain in a certain way. If you keep a certain attitude then only your experience will remain a certain way. I guess in order to attune perfect balance between self-comfort and having the people around you comfortable is to master your behavior and attitude.
Attitude
(noun) A settled way of thinking or feeling about someone or something, typically one that is reflected in a person's behavior.
Synonyms:
·       Outlook
·       Behavior
·       Personality
·       Approach
·       Mindset

Examples: Katherine has a good attitude towards school because she loves to learn and to be with her friends. Victor took a terrible attitude towards his friend’s hostility, so he ignored him throughout the entire week. Elizabeth had a natural attitude towards martial arts, it’s as if she was born to be a black belt.
Periodontist

Duties and Responsibilities: As a periodontist, you'll treat patients who have gum disease and other issues in the gums and bones surrounding the jaw. Your work may be surgical or non-surgical and might include tasks like placing implants, developing treatment plans, and providing preventative care. You may also perform cosmetic procedures, including tissue grafts or reductions to alter the way a person's smile looks. Part of your job might also be to help patients resolve issues like tooth sensitivity. While most dentists work in their own private practices, you might also work in a group practice, clinic, dental school, or hospital.
Salary: $269,000
Education: It takes many years of study to become a periodontist. The journey begins by completing a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology or a related topic and continues with four years of study in dentistry school where a DDS (Doctor of Dental Surgery) degree or DMD (Doctor of Dental Medicine) degree is earned; the dental school must be accredited by the American Dental Association. After dentistry school, a student periodontist completes three additional years of study to specialize in periodontics and receive a Ph.D.

Reflection: I would not like to be a Periodontist because I am not anywhere near interested in this field.

“He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.”
Proverb

What this proverb means is that if you surround yourself with good people you will become better overall, but if you hang out with the wrong crowd then you start to become a bad person. I completely agree with this proverb, it is very simple yet truthful. The people you choose to hang out with will have an effect in who you are as a person. Their qualities will eventually integrate into your own personality. So if you hang out with good people, their goodness will start to rub off on you. Same goes for if you hang out with bad people. But one thing we should remember is that these qualities that you gain will not last forever. We shouldn't judge someone based on who they used to hang out with, because those qualities that come from their past friends may disappear.
Dental Technician

Duties and Responsibilities: The job description for dental technicians includes constructing various appliances such as removable and fixed prosthesis including dentures, bridges, crowns, retention plates; post orthodontic braces removal, etc. They generally work directly with the dentist by following detailed written instructions from the dentist or the orthodontist. They use molds as a replica of teeth for construction of crowns, bridges, or false teeth. For creating these prostheses, dental technicians work with different materials like wax, stainless steel, porcelain, as well as with gold and other metals. Nowadays, there is growing popularity for dental technicians to construct prosthesis which are metal free and aesthetic. They require qualities similar to that of a carver, as most of their work involves carving and shaping with tools like drills, presses, lathes, and high heat furnaces for creating each prosthetic device.
Salary: $36000
Education: Dental laboratory technicians may receive their education and training through a two-year program at a community college, vocational school, technical college, university or dental school. Graduates of these programs receive either an associate degree or a certificate. There also are a few programs that offer a four-year baccalaureate program in dental technology. In most cases, an interested individual needs a high school diploma or its equivalent to apply to an accredited dental laboratory technology program. Contact the dental technology program of interest to you for specific requirements.

Reflection: I would not like to become a dental technician because I have absolutely no  interest in it what so ever.

Integrity versus Honor

I just saw a video which told a story about Abraham Lincoln. The story was that Lincoln and his good friend were walking in the forest one day and his friend asked Lincoln to a bottle of whiskey to which Lincoln declined. Then his friend asked Lincoln to a cigar to which he refused but this time he told why. He said to his good friend that when he was small he sat by his mother on her deathbed and it was her final will that Lincoln would not ever smoke or drink to which he has kept up all these years. Alright, now I actually have a problem with this story. The whole point of me watching this story was to learn about integrity, but is that really what Lincoln is portraying? Lincoln did not smoke or drink because of a promise he made that he ensures he will keep, but not because he knew those things were wrong. Of course Lincoln knew those things were wrong but would he have still kept up this abstinence if he never made a promise with his dear mother? That story was not a matter of integrity but a matter of honor. Of course I am not denying Lincoln’s purity, but I am simply saying that this was not an example of integrity. Integrity should be of your own free will, not because you kept an important promise.

Would you like to be great?
Here’s how
Student Success Statement
“Kindness is the essence of greatness.”

Joseph B. Wirthlin

This quote means that the root of greatness id kindness, and if you want to become great you first need to become kind. I somewhat do not agree with this quote. Yes, it is true that kindness is one of the greatest qualities a person can have, but I do not think it is the root of greatness. I think that the root of greatness is persistence, always fighting for what’s right no matter what happens. I think a more important quality that could be replaced with kindness is empathy. Shouldn’t every great leader have great empathy to lead his followers to greatness? Shouldn’t every great hero have empathy to save his people with? Shouldn’t every great teacher have great empathy to be able to teach his students?  Empathy, I think, is greater than kindness.
Speech Pathologist

Duties and Responsibilities: Speech-language pathologists (sometimes called speech therapists) assess, diagnose, treat, and help to prevent communication and swallowing disorders in patients. Speech, language, and swallowing disorders result from a variety of causes, such as a stroke, brain injury, hearing loss, developmental delay, a cleft palate, cerebral palsy, or emotional problems.
Salary: $70,000
Education: The standard level of education for speech-language pathologists is a master’s degree. Although master’s programs do not specify a particular undergraduate degree for admission, certain courses must be taken before entering the program. Required courses vary by institution. Graduate programs often include courses in age-specific speech disorders, alternative communication methods, and swallowing disorders. These programs also include supervised clinical practice in addition to coursework.

Reflection: I would not like to be a Speech Pathologist because I do not have the patience nor the communication skills to excel in this career.

“Visualization-Imagination: What you see is what you get”

Anonymous
I think that this quote means that if you see yourself succeeding then you will succeed and if you see yourself not succeeding you will fail. I guess I agree with this quote, if you see yourself one way then you will most likely end up that way. The reason for that is the way you imagine yourself is motivation. If you see yourself that way then you will be motivated to act or make decisions in that way.
Sonographer (Ultrasound Technician)

Duties:The ultrasound technician is responsible for creating images of patients’ internal organs and bones as well as blood vessels for the purpose of detecting abnormalities in the body that put the patients at risk of developing harmful diseases. He gives the ultrasound tests but he also examines them and then discusses the results with patients. Sometimes the technician may devise a treatment plan and refer the patient to another specialist for this treatment.
Salary: $22000
Education:Before starting a career in ultrasound technology, completing an education program from an Ultrasound Technician school will be required. Most often the training received will earn an Associate’s degree in the process and will prepare you to participate in certification exams. “A CTR Champion is a person who makes a great human out of himself.”
Noemi Trigueros

This quote is saying that in order for someone to become a CTR champion, they need to become a great person with good morals and aspirations. I agree with this quote because in order to become something bigger you need to do big things yourself. What bigger things are out there than to choose the right?
Research Scientist
Duties and Responsibilities: Medical research scientists devise and conduct experiments in order to increase the body of scientific knowledge on topics related to medicine. They also develop new, or improve existing, drugs, treatments or other medically related products. Medical research takes place in higher education institutions, research institutes, hospitals and industry. The level of research may be basic and involve investigating the underlying basis of health or disease or it may be more applied and include conducting clinical research, investigating methods of prevention, diagnosis and treatment of human disorders. Research may be at the molecular level, carried out using appropriate cell and animal models, or human volunteers may be used to study the clinical effects of various factors
Salary: $80,000
Education: Although graduates entering this area of work traditionally have a degree in a medical or life science discipline, many areas of medical research now also need graduates in chemistry, physics or statistics/bioinformatics. Direct entry with only an HND or foundation degree to a research scientist role is not possible. Opportunities for HND or foundation degree holders may exist at technician level - see scientific laboratory technician - but progression to medical research scientist will require further qualifications. Some employers may allow you to study while working part time. An MSc or PhD is commonly required by employers for entry to this field, but opportunities at entry level without a postgraduate qualification do exist, particularly in industry. Career progression does usually require further qualifications though, particularly a PhD. The Medical Research Council (MRC) is the main funder of PhDs in medical science in the UK and in 2009/10 it supported more than 1,900 postgraduate students and spent around £86million on training awards. The MRC also funds collaborative studentships with pharmaceutical and biotech companies, which result in a PhD.

Reflection: I think it would be fun to become a Research Scientist. It sounds very interesting. But if I was to become one, I don’t think I would become a Medical Research Scientist because I am not particularly interested but I would become a Research Scientist for life science or physical science.

Their patients range from premature infants with undeveloped lungs to elderly patients who have diseased lungs. They also provide emergency care to patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning, or shock.

Average Salary: $55,870

Educational Requirements: Respiratory therapists need at least an associate’s degree, but employers may prefer applicants who have a bachelor’s degree. Many colleges and universities, vocational–technical institutes, and the Armed Forces offer education and training programs. Most programs award an associate’s or bachelor’s degree.
Respiratory therapy programs include courses in human anatomy and physiology, chemistry, physics, microbiology, pharmacology, and mathematics. Other courses deal with therapeutic and diagnostic procedures and tests, equipment, patient assessment, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation
