“Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all.”
Aristotle

I think that the reasoning behind this quote is that in order for education to be worth something, you have to have your heart in the lesson. Without having your heart in what you are learning then it is not of any importance to yourself.

“CTR connects you to happiness and success-CTW disconnects.”
Mr. Haymore

What the quote is trying to say is that when you choose to do something right you gain happiness and success, and when you do something wrong you do not gain happiness and success. I agree with this quote. I do think that when you do things right you gain happiness and success. I also agree with doing something wrong means you do not gain any of these because I have plenty of experience in that department. I tend to procrastinate more than any human being alive. I procrastinate with all my schoolwork and even with things that I do for fun like my drawings or playing video games. I sometime try to push away drawing or playing because I’m too lazy or tired. I realize that by doing this I gain neither happiness nor success. I should learn to not procrastinate as much.

“Choosing the right is always the right thing to do.”
Alex Linares

What this quote is trying to say is that the right choice is always right. I mean, they do call it the right choice for a reason. Why would they call it the right choice if it was wrong? Obviously choosing the right will bring good things towards you and choosing the wrong will bring bad things towards. Let me give you a scenario where this quote would come in handy: One day you walk out of the grocery store and notice that your car’s tired have been slashed. You can either walk home, or hijack a car. Which is right and which is wrong, YOU DECIDE. But seriously, hijacking a car would result in a chain reaction where you would go to jail and become a bitter, terrible person while walking home would result in walking, just walking. I think I got off topic but you know what I mean.

CHOOSE THE RIGHT!!!

I would not like to become an electroneurodiagnostic technician because I already have my eye on a few career paths and I would not want to sway away from those ambitions. Also I would think that to become an electroneurodiagnostic technologist you must have a passion for it and I do not have a passion for it.

“It’s better to be alone than to be in bad company.”
ANON

This quote is self-explanatory because all it is trying to say is that it is worse to be with people who are a bad influence or a danger to you than to just be alone. It is better for you not to be with these people that could harm you or influence you in any negative way. If a person is friends with a group of people who aren’t doing any good to this person then they shouldn’t be friends with them at all. Sometimes this is hard to do, for various reasons. Sometimes being friends with someone who is a bad influence will give this person a sense of rebellion. Other times a person will have a fear or anxiety of finding new friends and will try to stay with the ones they already have. Either way, eventually they should realize the bad influence or potential harm and try to escape this.

“You cannot do wrong and feel right. It is impossible.”
Ezra T. Benson

The quote is trying to say that doing wrong will never give you the satisfaction that is found in doing something right. When you do something wrong you may feel a twinge of satisfaction, but there is no doubt that you will feel worse than you would’ve felt if you had done something right. Sometimes this doesn’t apply because sometimes people are sadists, but that is a completely different story. I can’t think of many examples but I am sure that you can imagine one.

“I think it better to do right, even if we suffer in so doing, than to incur the reproach of our conscience.”
Robert E. Lee

I am pretty sure this quote means that you should do whatever it is that is right even if by doing so you bring misfortune upon yourself. Doing something right or beneficial is more important than your comfort or wellbeing. In the end, the help you provided for someone will be more important and worth it than if you chose not to do it because it was beneficial to you. This should not be confused with stupidity of course. For instance, you shouldn’t rush to a third world country and single-handedly try to murder a dictator, nor should you adopt 20 babies from damaged homes.

“Tell me what is right and I will fight for it.”
Woodrow Wilson

I think that this quote is pretty self-explanatory. Obviously this former president meant that he wanted to fight for what is right no matter what the costs. I am not too much at peace with this quote because he is saying that he wants to be told what is right. I am sure that at the moment he said it he didn’t mean it in that way but the words he chose to express his beliefs aren’t that well put. I think you should never fight for something blindly, whether it be good or bad. If you want to fight for something you should know why, and most definitely you shouldn’t let other people decide what you should fight for. You should fight for what you believe in and not what someone else believes in.

“The right way is not always the popular and easy way. Standing for right when it is unpopular is a true test of moral character.”
Margaret Chase Smith

I think that this quote means that sometimes the right thing to do is not the popular choice or the easiest choice and it is a great achievement to commit to this right thing when it is not popular or easy. You don’t see many examples of this nowadays since doing the right thing is becoming a natural and popular action, especially in Los Angeles. You may not realize it, but think about how our society has changed since ten or twenty years ago. We have seemed to have gotten better at common courtesy and having respect for ourselves and others.

“The reward of a job well done is to have done it.”

“Disciplining yourself to do what you know is right and important, although difficult, is the highroad to pride, self-esteem, and personal satisfaction.”
Margaret Thatcher

This quote means to say that disciplining yourself to do acts of good and honesty will reward you with personal well being  I think when you have your own personal rewarding system for your morals it is a truly great way to become a better person. What I mean by a personal rewarding system is a system where you guilt yourself for doing wrong deeds and pride yourself with every good deed. I believe this is a way to improve your morals and improve your state of mind.

My Experience So Far at HPIAM

My experience so far at HPIAM has been… okay. Yeah, I guess it has been better than I have expected. I don’t really have any harsh complaints about the school. My only real complaint would be the homework. Apparently I have done more homework than any of my other friends in different schools. The campus is great, there is no litter and everything seems so new (because everything is new.) The teachers and staff here are fairly kind and responsible; I have no complaints in that department. Now the students… well let’s just say I am not used to them.
My middle school consisted of around 300 students so it was a closely knitted school where everyone understood each other and there was never an issue in the community we created. But in this school it’s pretty different. There’s definitely more children at this school. Also no one from my previous school came to this school. The kids here seem so average, I do have a problem with that. It seems these kids are just kids, nothing else. But who am I to judge? I have no clue to who they are. At least I have an interesting group of friends.

I was pretty much forced to go to this school. My mom got a job here and she thought it would be convenient for me to join her. Of course I hated the idea, I loathed it with all my strength. But of course, I couldn’t change anything. So I settled with the idea. Things could have gotten worse.

I feel as if that I am getting way more work than I should have. I keep asking my friends at other schools if they are getting the same amount of work that I am getting. They all said they haven’t gotten as much work as me. I wonder why though.

In conclusion, my experience so far at HPIAM is actually going pretty good.
Sting of the Scorpion
There was this little boy who was vacationing in a dessert or something. His parents would tell him to always wear shoes, and the boy understood why. He understood that there were dangers that could be prevented by wearing shoes. The little boy wanted to go on a little walk and instead of wearing shoes he wore flip flops. He was lazy and knew that he was doing wrong but didn’t really care because he’s a little kid. After a while he felt a prick of a thorn on his foot, as he looked down he saw a scorpion had stung him. He started freaking out and called for his parents. His parents started to drive him to the nearest hospital which was two hours away. Luckily the doctor man said that only infants and the malnourished would be severely affected by this type of scorpion. The boy learned a lesson, to listen to his parents and stuff. Also to choose the right.

I think this story was nice. I like how the boy didn’t die, that was pleasant. I think the lesson he learned was powerful though, because I bet he always tries to do the right after that experience. We all experience some type of misfortunate event that ultimately imprints a lesson about how we should do the right, not the wrong. I found his to be very extreme as he could’ve died, but nonetheless the lesson was there. You always should choose the right and not be lazy when it comes to situations where you know you might be stung if you choose the wrong.

“In any moment of decision, the best thing you can do is the right thing.”
Theodore Roosevelt

I would think that this quote means that you should always do the right thing. To be honest I’m not too sure I like this quote that much. Don’t get me wrong, Theodore Roosevelt is a great man of course, but this quote doesn’t spark much inspiration. All this quote is saying is that in any moment it would be best to just choose the right thing. That is all fine, but it is not always apparent on what the right thing is.  I can’t really think of a good example but basically anything will do because you just need to always choose the right, always. Even if you can’t see it, choose it. Now here is a patriotic picture of Teddy.
