“Obedience is central to becoming, being, and remaining happy.”

David A. Bednar

This quote means that if you are obedient then it is likely that you become happy and stay happy. I am not sure if I agree with this quote or not. The reason why I am unsure is because the thought of saying that obedience will make you happy is too vague to be correct. Yes obedience is choosing the right thing to do but does it make you happy? There are plenty of scenarios that would show that someone isn’t happy because they are obedient. Some scenarios might include slavery, oppression, tyranny, fear, or even just depression. All those scenarios would include someone being obedient but also not being happy. So again I don’t think I agree with this quote, but nor do I disagree with it because it some cases being obedient will grant you happiness.
Life Planning Goals Progress Report

I haven’t been doing so well accomplishing my goals. The reason for that is mostly because I only manage to write down long term goals. The only short term goals that I did write down I actually did accomplish, which would amount to about four. If I really want to accomplish my goals I should start trying to write down more short term goals. Also I just need to apply myself, like with everything else, in order to become the best that I can be. Also swear that I will read my life planning notebook throughout my lifetime and I will try my best at reading my life planning notebook every day.
Class Reflection
1.       What did you like best about this class?
What I liked best about this class would have to be that I learned so much about the medical field and also I had the chance to open my mind further to ideas and people that I haven’t before with all the reflections of the quotes.
2.      What did you dislike about this class?
What I disliked about this class was that the quotes we did reflect on were mostly very similar by which I mean that they all centralized around a theme of doing the right thing, which is a great topic but I would've liked something different once in a while.
3.      What can you recommend to improve this class?
I would recommend that we get the chance to reflect on different ideas, like I said before, and also to just change up the routine one on a while.
4.      What will you always remember about this class?

I will always remember the lessons and ideas I learned in this class.

Student Success Statement
“When obedience becomes our goal, it is no longer an irritation; instead of a stumbling block, it becomes a building block.”

James E. Faust

Basically what this quote is telling us is that when you strive for obedience that tells you that obedience is no longer an annoyance but an advantage towards success. I guess I agree with this quote mainly because of how inspiring it is. Honestly I see obedience as gift given to those who deserve it, I do not view it as a challenge in which the prize is success.  Obedience is mainly something that everyone should give, those who do not are simple not deserving of success. I view obedience as such an obligatory social trait that I cannot even imagine nor explain someone who does not want to be obedient. I cannot view obedience as a stumbling block so therefore I cannot agree or disagree with this quote.

Obedience
“The more obedient we are, the more freedom we have.”
Boyd K. Packer

I don’t really understand this quote. I guess the quote could be referring to the long run I which if you are obedient now you will have gained the trust of the person that you originally had to be obedient for, and now you have more options.

Obedience
Definition: A form of "social influence” in which a person yields to explicit instructions or orders from an authority figure.
Synonyms:
·       Compliance
·       Submission
·       Duty
·       Conformity
·       Agreement
·       Respect

Examples: An example of obedience would be a dog complying to its masters orders, or a person asking for someone else to do something and the other person is doing what he asked, or a child doing all the chores that he needs to do.

Military Medical Careers
Duties and Responsibilities: Each branch of the military has different needs and entrance requirements for medical professionals. However, one requirement all four military branches share is the physical health standards. Any minor physical weakness, or deviation, from the slightest vision or hearing impairment to flat-footedness, could disqualify you for acceptance into the military. Additionally, you would have to pass physical fitness tests and endurance tests as well. The standards do vary slightly amongst the branches, but generally the requirements are very strict.
Salary: The pay ranges from rank, career, and years active.
Education: The educational requirements are different for each career but most seem to require a medical and a bachelor’s degree. You also need to meet physical and mental requirements as well as meeting educational requirements.

Reflection: I would not like to practice any sort of military medical career because I just simply don’t want to. There are many downsides to these jobs that I do not want to take. I would rather not.

Harmful Effects and Consequences of Drug Abuse
The consequences of drug abuse include:
  •   A moment of pleasure but a lifetime of pain.
  •   It fries your brain.
  •  This video is very over dramatic
  •   It destroys your future
  •   You destroy the lives of the people around you
  •  they deceive you
  • they destroy your life
  • you get jailed
  • DEATH!!!!!!!!
  • but retribution is available
I already made a promise to stay away from drugs a long time ago. I am actually straight edge. I wouldn't ever want to do drugs because i have seen what it does to some people, I also know that in my family I have a sort of intolerance to addiction. Even though those type of things do not get past down from parent to child, I wouldn't want to take the risk.

“Early to bed and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy, and wise.”

Benjamin Franklin

This quote means that if you get enough sleep then you invigorated for the next day. Of course this quote could have some sort of deeper meaning but I don’t really want to delve into that right now. Anyway, I agree with this statement completely. If you get a good night’s rest then you will have so much energy and such a clear head in the morning. And of course if you do not get enough sleep then you will not have so much energy or such a clear head.

Oriental Medicine Doctor
Duties and Responsibilities: Oriental medicine practitioners use fo-rms of acupuncture and treatment through the Chinese concept of “qi,” which means energy. Oriental medicine treats a variety of ailments including headaches, back pain, arthritis, or other illnesses by identifying patterns of imbalance within a body’s energy levels and working to readjust fluids or tissues in order to keep the body in balance and relieve pain. Oriental medicine techniques include acupuncture, cupping, acupressure, and herbal supplements that are applied to specific body parts or tissues. Practitioners must be able to evaluate a patient’s symptoms and identify what organs or tissues are causing the ailment, and come up with a customized plan that incorporates oriental herbs and practices into a treatment.
Acupuncture treatments involve the use of needles being placed in joints and tissues. Cupping involves using cups as a suction equipment to help release toxins from within the body. Acupressure is a form of massage that applies pressure on various points in order to relieve pain in other body parts. Herbal supplements are used to treat ailments from the inside and flush toxins out that may be the cause. These are some of the most popular forms of oriental medicine that are used to treat a variety of conditions.
Salary: $61,000
Education: Education and training requirements vary from state to state. Most training is obtained during an internship or apprenticeship, and many students who work as intern often get hired in as a full-time practitioner once their certification is obtained.

Reflection:  Maybe if I was skilled in acupuncture and was not passionate about any other career then maybe would try one. For a period of time instead of seeing regular doctor, I started seeing an oriental medicine doctor. Overall he was a good doctor  but his personality was wicked.
Plastic Surgeon
Duties and Responsibilities: Physicians and surgeons diagnose and treat injuries or illnesses. Physicians examine patients; take medical histories; prescribe medications; and order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests. They often counsel patients on diet, hygiene, and preventive healthcare. Surgeons operate on patients to treat injuries, such as broken bones; diseases, such as cancerous tumors; and deformities, such as cleft palates. Among these operations they go under three categories, cosmetic, reconstructive, and minor surgery.
Salary: $343,848
Education: The usual education and training requirements for plastic surgeons is at least 4 years of undergraduate school, 4 years of medical school, and then 3-8 years of internship.

Reflection: I would most definitely not become a plastic surgeon for various reasons. A main reason being that I do not generally accept of cosmetic surgery used for vain purposes, but of course I respect it.

Student Success Statement
“Obedience is the great test of life.”
Thomas S. Monson

This quote is pretty self-explanatory but it is basically saying that obedience is so important that it may determine how you live your life. I guess I agree with this quote but not really. Obedience, I think, should only be given to those that deserve it. Whether or not it determines your life is a different story. Obedience is a form of respect and the way you distinguish who you should be obedient to is a form of self-respect. Given all that, I believe that obedience shouldn't be “the great test of life” because that would signify that you are obedient to everyone, which isn't good.
