Acupuncture

Duties and Responsibilities: Acupuncturists partake in the unconventional practices of acupuncture. These practices are way unlike conventional western medicine because the practice includes the insertion of needles throughout specific parts of your body to heal you mental, emotional, and physical health. Treatment does not focus on a certain ailment or illness but rather the entire body as a whole.
Salary: $55,250
Education: Most licensed acupuncturists hold master's degrees or post-baccalaureate certificates from schools accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (www.acaom.org). As the Council of Colleges of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (CCAOM) explain, most programs require 1,500-2,000 hours of acupuncture training and take 3-4 years to complete (www.ccaom.org). Graduates must pass the certification exam offered by NCCAOM and fulfill any additional state licensing requirements.

Reflection: I would not like to be an acupuncturist because I feel that there could possibly be many potential hazards with the work environment and the equipment used.
